You know the milk business is getting more specialized when cat owners have a choice of reduced-lactose milk products for their feline friends. No kidding: The marketers of Alpo Dairy Cat and Whiskas Ultramilk are targeting kitties with weak stomachs.
Optimal Solutions:
Product options for human milk drinkers are multiplying even faster. In 1992, new milk varieties squeezed their way into dairy cases at the rate of one per week. Many of the them were value-added white milks with nutritional benefits such as extra protein and calcium, acidophilus/bifidus cultures, reduced lactose and reduced cholesterol.
"The goal is to break away from the commodity perception of milk," explains Jeff Princevalle, advertising and promotions manager for Seattle-based Darigold Inc.
